When my Family and I came to the U.S. in 1991 one of the first purchases my brother made was a PC. From the moment he bought it, I was fascinated with using the primitive design tools to make illustrations, cartoon characters, banners, signs etc.
Later on, while studying painting it dawned on me that I may need a more practical skill than painting in order to make a living. So I finished my painting associates degree and started school all over again (because the American Academy of Art was not an accredited school and none of my credits would be transferable anywhere). I ended up in Duluth Minnesota at UMD… For more reasons than just school… Decided to major in Graphic Design and was really surprised how solid the program was. I learned a great deal about design history, typography, composition, layout, and conceptual design.

As soon as I graduated from college, I moved back to Chicago in hopes of finding a real graphic design job.
The work you will see under the Design Tab taps a little bit into the conceptual work done back in college, but mostly shows the projects I have been working on since 2004 both as a freelancer and as an employee.
The kinds of projects I’ve covered span from ads, to fliers, logos, posters, ads, postcards, decorative design, layouts, book design and even some web projects (though it’s not my favorite area).
