I’ve loved photography since I was a little girl…

Maybe not that little, but I do remember as a child, my dad would develop pictures with me and my brother about once or twice a year…

We would wait until complete night fall, then cover up all the windows with cardboard to prevent any light from ruining the photos. My dad would switch out the light bulb in the kitchen to a one of those deep red bulbs used in darkrooms, the enlarger would already be set up, the chemicals for developing all mixed up and we would start working on photos…

I was usually to tired to stay up super late to see all the photos develop, but besides seeing the images develop in the chemicals, my favorite part was the next morning when I would wake up to see the photos that my brother and dad developed during the night.

Because my high school had a darkroom and a photography class, I was very eager to start taking classes and have darkroom access.

I loved it! I used my dad’s old Pentax camera and shot with black and white film until I graduated.

Then in college, I minored in photography and worked on a variety of project from journalistic, to portraiture, to nature and experimental photography with some crossing into digital.

Finally when I started working at GKI back in 2006, I was trained in as a food photographer using all digital equipment, which brings me to where my photography is today.
